Sacred Kingfisher

looking for a road to somewhere special?

and cool in the shadows?

Well that wasn't it - it looked like it for a moment, but that's actually a dry-creek bed ....

so back to this track then, where a Yellow Robin was calling

and then seen, fleetingly ..the only snapshot 'evidence' as he tucked his head around; I tried

further along though, and then BINGO!  A stunning luminescent Sacred Kingfisher soaking up some sunshine.

Just hoping now, that it'll stay around a moment for more pics.

you handsome bird; would love to see the front of you too

oh .. that's good!

maybe even better :)

thanks Mr Kingfisher; or just maybe this is the Queen?

Location: Bingara, inland N.S.W.

Beautiful scenery and very beautiful bird. Kingfishers just won't sit still long enough for me to take good photos.

Kingfisher's are such quirky little birds ... I just love them. Ours would seem to be bigger, but less colorful ... mostly green but I think they all act the same. Glad you persevered because the pictures are wonderful.

Oh my - I've never even heard of a Sacred Kingfisher - It's absolutely gorgeous, and a great find for you! Terrific photos you took of him/her.

That kingfisher is just a gorgeous bird. YOu made me laugh with that first road... I once had a friend that was a real "city boy" and went camping. Guess where he pitched his tent, and guess what happened in the middle of the night. Last camping trip for him

Gorgeous bird! These are great, Carole! I've tried and tried to get photos of the Kingfishers at a nearby lake, but the buggers won't sit still. Love those trees, too!
