I spy with my little eye, something beginning with 'C'

You got it; they're clouds, but they're floating over 'B' for Bingara, in Northern N.S.W., (didn't think you'd get that, so made it an easy one).

Bingara is an inland country town known to be 'half-way' between Sydney, and Brisbane, Qld., with a population in 2011 of 1,336.

450 klms from home base

It's almost 7 a.m. (daylight saving time), when I take my first walk around, scouting for birds

Crested Pigeon

White-browed Scrubwrens, there were several, and they were quite difficult to pick up; forever hopping from one spot to another.  A few Superb Fairy-Wrens were amongst them.

looking down, over the Myall Creek, this sweet little rose growing on the fence-line takes my eye

Dusky Moorhens

later that morning, beside the Gwydir River; a Little Black Cormorant

oh,  ...and friend

home, sweet home (for some feathered resident/s)

That's a lovely sky to take a walk under. Wonderful clouds!
A lovely series of birds but I have to say that crested pigeon is my favorite! I love it's color. Reminds me of lady in a fancy hat though. :)

Hi Carole The early bird catches the 'BIRD' you did that. Lovely collection you photographed and some of those small birds are very difficult to photograph. Do you live near Newcastle? I have friends that live there and have visited them twice.

Every time we drive through Bingara we vow to return and stay!! Such wonderful scenery deserves more than admiration from the car window! We HAVE found time to visit the bakery, however, and that's almost enough reason by itself to stop over!

LOVE reading your comments; thanks to each of you. Margaret I'm located about sixty kilometres south from Newcastle. Red, I totally LOVED Bingara too; it certainly is the ideal country town with superb surroundings to explore.

I must keep a look out for Bingara next time we are down that way. I love the cormorants. Just skimmed through all your beautiful posts which I have missed lately. I hope you are not affected by the bushfires.

280 miles, quite the little road trip. I admire you doing them. I too like that Crested Pigeon with his spiky little punk-style top knot.

to diane b - the closest fires are now noted as still burning but 'under control'. Those wonderful fire-fighters just need better weather conditions - lack of winds etc.
