Silver Gulls

Standing at the top carpark, Soldiers Beach, looking back towards Norah Head Lighthouse.  There's more photos of this beach and what I found there, on my other blog, Snap Happy Online, titled Ocean Walk Yesterday.

o.k. so they might be in the 'dime a dozen' category, but the Silver Gull always cuts a fine profile.

late night was it?

***  P.S. ***  I wanted to share a chuckle with my blog readers before it gets lost in my archives - some of you who haven't seen the previous post Little Black Cormorants (and a little surprise), hope you'll check it out.

I anticipated as I worked on it, putting a smile on your face; let me know won't you?  :)

Sharing this, with Wild Bird Wednesday

I love these gulls. I was actually feeding some over the weekend in Boston. They are most friendly when you have some french fries to share!

I just love lighthouses, and this one is such a beauty.

I love Gulls, so so many different varieties. I have a few I still need to get identified.

Beautiful sea-scapes and I agree that Silver Gulls are always beautiful to photograph - but I don't think I have ever photographed one like in that last pic. Perfect!

I like everything about gulls, they clean up the beaches, they have good to watch but the sound they make takes me back to when I was a kid.

Love the caption on the last shot. I always think the gulls are pretty but I recently read a travel book where the author saw gulls tearing the skin off baby whales off the coast of South America. The people call them rats with wings.

Hi Carole. I love this Gull ever though very common. Always very white and wonderful red beak and feet. he is singing opera that Gull. Now the Cormorants brought a smile to me the first time but puttint the text on as a pick up boat is brilliant.

Oh yes that beach looks fabulous and the shot of the gull (I think it's the 2nd one) is just amazing. Such detail.

I like Gulls for some reason. Maybe because they are sorta photogenic and they just are fun to watch at the beach.
Love the Cormarant Water Taxi. thanks!
Regarding your comment about the bird feeder. The holes in the wooden block are filled with suet. the white metal things we added to try to keep the stellar Jays away. they mob the feeder and break the little posts and gobble the suet so fast ones head spins. It seems to work a bit. The smaller birds just fit right in. MB

Excellent captures of the gulls. A beautiful scenic shot of the lighthouse too!

I agree with your sentiments about common birds Carole. Sometimes we forget to look at them and perhaps don't bother to take photographs but we neglect them at our peril. Who is to say the next species which become scarce or endangered? Your pictures do full justice to a very handsome and beautiful gull.
