The best of the pigeon shots I took had to be up on a caravan tv antennae at the holiday park in Gloucester, late afternoon. Never mind, it is clearly a white-headed pigeon; the first I'd ever seen.
Maybe a female or juvenile noting the colouring difference?
These pigeons are quite vocal, with a loud "whoo-hoo" it is described as, in my Birds of Australia book.
and although not a clear shot, I thought it worth including just to show their bulk. Quite a chunky bird aren't they just?

They always do look well-fed, but such sweet little ones they are. These are great photos, Carole.
really cool looking birds!
I am always amazed at how many different species of pigeon/doves there are in the world I have never heard of... many thanks for sharing another newbie. xx
A bit of chunky, yes, but oh so lovely...rather stately look!

He is a chunky bird! Nice photos of a bird I've never seen.
These are lovely shots of this large and unique looking pigeon! Such variety these come in! HOpe you had a lovely Easter. Bet your weather is starting to cool off a bit. Best from Texas!
Now that's a cool looking pigeon! Quite different from what I'm used to here.
Nice bird - I'm surprised they did not all end up in pigeons pies in the past! Glad they did not.
Nice pictures.

Congratulations on another 'lifer'!! And my apologies for including you in my recent award - I should have checked 1st. Now that I've got it under my belt I am going to take a leaf from your book and make my blog award-free too!! It's a real double edged sword!
Great photographs Carole.

I've never herd of them. They are something different. I like how his red feet are curled around the antennae
I saw 4 corners last night about the drilling for coal seam gas in the Gloucester Valley. It was a disturbing story.
Just wonderful. A special bird...
love those eyes. ( :
