Knowing our presence! We were the only people at the reserve
That any of my succession of photographs-in-a-hurry before they fly away should turn out something, was a bonus. It was at that moment when I wanted for a better viewpoint, and stepped back on some crackling dry undergrowth, that ...
sent them flying

Great shot, especially that flash of red. Got into your site by using your URL,and not the meme site. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
I would never have imagined a Black Cockatoo and yet there they are ... so beautiful. You certainly were in luck that day and nice to have a friend who spots things you might have missed. I have a friend who does that for me all of the time. I am thrilled to see this bird even if it is second hand. Thank you for sharing this wonderful adventure.

Incredible. The redness in the wing during 'take off' is stunning, a great beautiful contrast.

So beautiful! Glad you caught that amazing color on the wings.
Great captures of this endangered bird. He's a beauty. Love the red on the tail feathers as he flies away.
Awesome looking birds! I actually like the dark plumage. Very cool beaks, too!
Thanks Carole...I'd never heard of or seen a black one...very pretty. Glad you got some shots of them!

I'd never heard of a black cockatoo but there it is - both glossy and black as a bonus. Nice shots Carole.
New bird for me also. Super photos. Praying that they survive.

We get the Yellow Tailed Cockatoos over (and around) our house at times - they are wonderful birds.
