take a brolly, or risk it?

A week of unsettled weather with showers most days.  I'm sometimes questioned when I refer to taking 'the brolly' - it's a familiar term here for an umbrella.  Is it for you?

looking up the street at 6 a.m., the skies aren't looking too promising for that morning walk in half an hour are they?

in the opposite direction, there's a break

.. and by 6.30 a.m., a touch of colour as the sun rises

no, that's not a saying we use here in the States. it's cute, though! :)

My first thought was it meant a condition of the skies as if they were "broiling up a storm". Doubt I'll use it in reference to an umbrella although I find many of the other terms and words used down under are pretty cool.

I'm familiar with several Aussie terms, but brolly isn't one of them. I learned something new! Those are some fantastic cloud formations!

Nice photos. For some reason I always like the look of ominous clouds.

I have never heard the phrase "brolly" here in the United States, but I think I'm going to start using it because I like how it sounds and it's sure to be a conversation starter!

Umm nope- never heard that one! Bust I love that ominous looking sky at daybreak! Glad you didn't have to break out the brolly for your walk.

That last shot is lovely. I wish I was a morning person.

No need for the brolly down here today - unless you use it for shade!

Your not wrong about the number of pictures I took in Tasmania!
