World Bird Wednesday, by the beach

From home to here was just a 30 klm. drive down the coast last Sunday.  This view where I stood at an elevated position, near the surf-club at Soldiers Beach.  Tide's down;  I think the riders out there had already had the best of it long before I arrived just after 9.30  a.m.

Thought I'd share with you a little of the scenery as well; because it's a million-dollar birds-eye view, don't you agree?

Lucky Superb Fairy Wrens (this one female, or jenny-wren), living here; sweet little birds they are.  Seen before walking down the wooden steps buried in sand.

Hadn't carried a tripod as planned, but instead, a light folding-stool for photos like this, so I could sit  and take my pics from a better position, and with a little extra stability over the camera.

Pelican Point is in the distance; there's where I'm walking towards

Crested Tern

A fisherman threw some leftovers about before leaving.

a short video, with a smidgin' of the beach first (sorry 'bout the little wobble up when trying to move across that view).

What a beautiful place Carole. I love that little Superb Fairy Wren but how could you not love a bird with a name like that? You got some excellent shots of the Crested Tern and the gulls too. My favorite part of your post though is the video, with the sounds of the beach, the birds and the waves coming in and the gull taking a bath. Thanks for the trip!
