Varied Sitella
cropped version
first glimpse of something new; hadn't known what it belonged to
it's a Brown Cuckoo-Dove
hard to get a shot at it with a network of branches between it and the camera
the Brown Cuckoo-Dove had been to the left of this little 'swamp' and soon after taking this photo, something landed closeby
a Fan-Tailed Cuckoo was there for just a moment, one snapshot and away...
believed to be a female, or juvenile, Golden Whistler .....

Both birds are beautiful, but the little gray one is so cute. Fabulous !
Hi Carole great photos. That first little bird is always hard to photograph it is so flighty I find. Love the Dove, they are so big.
Some great birds there!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Nice photos again! You sure do see a wide variety of birds!
Beautiful birds Carole, well photographed, compliments.
These species also are not in the Netherlands.

These are ALL new birds for me!
Fantastic series, Carole, and makes me want to visit the area.
I love the shots showing the birds' environment.
An interesting set of birds again and the last two I would really like to see and photograph!

Great set of shots carole!
I've never seen any of these! The first one blends in with the tree nicely. I like the tree, too. The Cuckoo Dove is pretty awesome! It really does look like a hybrid!
Wonderful birds! I love the dove.
Lovely birds, none of them have I encountered.
What an amazing variety of birds, Carole! No wonder you can dedicate your blog to them.
I always feel like I've been on a mini-vacation when I see your posts :-) Wonderful photos of such beautiful birds and their territory.
It's great to be able to record the moment you see a species for the first time! I love Varied Sitellas and I don't often see them in Brisbane. As their name would suggest, they look totally different down in your neck of the woods! The tree it is on almost looks like it is covered in snow - nicely captured!
