Osprey

6.17 a.m., looking out over the Wallamba River, Tuncurry Nth/Darawank

how could the day not be a beauty ... starting with a view like this?

this Osprey was the winning ticket, at a location just a short drive away from the holiday park

The previous afternoon, the parent bird had been sitting under the struts; took flight ... did a big u-turn and came back to sit over this chick.

cropped close-up

a robust platform and nest; good to know it's well utilised

back at riverside for sunset, just after 5pm

Hi Carole,
Great series.
So beautiful landscape with fog.
The Osprey is truly sublime, is not in the Netherlands, unfortunately.

Oh Carole!!! [ I sound like Neil Sedaka and his song, "Oh Carol" ] ...the morning views are incredible. I could sit there for hours if only we could freeze time.

Your osprey - one of my favorite birds - images are also incredible.

we have ospreys but I´ve never seen a nest. Nice to see one.

Osprey was a species that I had hoped to see when I visited Australia, but I missed. It is morphologically different from the bird we see here and in fact the IOC has split the species into Eastern Osprey (yours) and Western Osprey (the rest of the world). I have a great fondness for ospreys, several of which nest locally every year, and I live on Osprey Drive.

The misty opening to the day is enchanting. Such lovely soft colours. And the osprey is fascinating. It certainly knows how to build a large nest.

Stunning landscape work and beautifully detailed Osprey shots - one of my favourite birds from my recent trip to Queensland. Seen on Wild Bird Wednesday

A wonderful post Carole your images are stunning.
Ospreys have been seen flying over my patch but the nearest nesting birds are about 80 miles away.
