Gymea Lily

Featuring here the magnificent Gymea Lily Doryanthes excelsa.  Photos had been taken at a Flora Festival held each Spring at Kariong, Central Coast of N.S.W.

These plants can be found growing naturally in some bushland locations; the flower stems can reach a staggering 6 metres (20 feet) tall!

Looking like crushed taffeta ...

I'm speechless; a lily of 6 meters. My imagination comes short.
The flower arrangement is stunning and oh, so exotic. The green foliage mix so enhances the vibrant red flowers.
Lucky you.
