As a birdname that must rate alongside the Collared Pratincole and the Zitting Cisticola. Neat little bird though.

HI Carole I just went back to see if you had answered my last comment and indeed you had. Imagine Alan leading your camp! Yes it is a small world. next time you see him PLEASE remember me to him.

John: I like the way you associated the quirky bird names, the tongue twisters. You might wonder who thinks up a bird name in the first place? Margaret: I will make a mention for you, when I catch up with Alan again.

A very unusual and attractive looking bird there Carole. It must be from one of the many bird families you have down there but which we don't share. Such an interesting name too. Lovely shots of it too which show all its features.

As far as bird names are concerned, how about Oleaginous Hemispingus?

These are lovely little birds - I hear them far more often than a see them. What a treat to have them come down to a feeder.

A pretty little bird with a name I have never heard of. Poor little thing could use a bit more tail feathers though.
