World Bird Wednesday from the Central Coast, NSW

Location: Soldiers Beach, cold and windy ... (it's Winter)

but the male Superb Fairy Wren was out and about

and some of his harem, or juveniles, also

brrr

the ocean in the background, way below

Nankeen Kestrel was up on some antannae.
My biggest photography buzz yet (I'm hardly over it still), was with these "I got lucky" shots of this kestrel making for last week's W.B.W. post here

Willie Wagtail

now that's better, with a glimpse of sunshine.

Even some blue sky to be had as the day progressed.  Nankeen Kestrel landed on a covered umbrella near the kiosk; it was time for a hot caffeine injection (for me).

The little wren is so cute. The ones here don't have the blue on them. What is the temperature on a cold and windy day in Australia?

Oh wow, I love the cute Fairy wrens. Even their name sounds cute. The Wagtail is another one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing your WBW.

They're all great, but Willie and the Fairy wren are beautiful and fun!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

Great photos - especially the Kestrel. I like your beach photo but it does look cold.

Awesome post, - perfect for WBW!

Barb questioned the temperature on the day; it was probably in those early photographs around 9 degrees only. The location is situated high over the ocean and very open.

You captured the cold and windy atmosphere in that beach shot.

Never in my life have I heard of a Superb Fairy Wren, but name made me laugh! Very colorful little bird! I like the wagtail's plumage, too. Your kestrel is just awesome! Love those shots! A very handsome raptor!

Beautiful colors in sky, birds and water! It looks like it's gotten a bit chilly over there, and the birds are feeling it too!

Beautiful shots Carole!!
I would be delighted to capture the male Fairy Wren and the Nankeen Kestrel. I haven't come across either in my short 8 months of birding.

Beautiful shots. I like the blue color from the Superb Fairy Wren and of course the Nankeen Kestrel's beautiful feathers. Do I see a tangle pattern? ;-)

Hi there - great shots of the Kestrel - I never seem to find them in good light - oh well!
I thought I’d let you know that I stepped into the void caused by Springmans decision to close down World Bird Wednesday by setting up Wild Bird Wednesday (!) on my photoblog at Paying Ready Attention – Photo Gallery.

Feel free to visit and link.
