Laughing Kookaburra

My morning coffee was tasting good; I'd taken it outdoors to enjoy, sitting  camera on the table too, just in case.

Well as happened, something did fly past. I stood up and walked a few quiet steps to look around some shrubs, and up there, on the arbour - a (Laughing) Kookaburra.

and dropped silently to the ground for this worm

...which you throw back like this

and back again, seemingly curious for a moment, about the camera lens.  I started to wonder if it could see its own reflection in the glass!  Not that I was that close, but knowing how good their eyesight is ...

Dearest Carole;
What BEAUTIFUL pictures of Kookaburra♡♡♡ I was SO happy to see this bird with your gorgeous pictures!!! I might have mentioned that I was involved with sister-city relationship with one of the cities in your country. I was given the staffed doll of this bird and I decorate it in my teaching room p;) It must be a popular bird in Australia. Very cute and yes, its eyes in your pictures seem looking into you camera♪♪♪

Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

I bet this bird has a wonderful sound since it's called a "laughing" Kookaburra. Love that name too and what great shots you captured of it.

Carole, splendid photographs of this handsome fellow! Thanks for sharing the proper technique of worm eating. I've been doing it wrong. :)

Our local members of the Kingfisher family are much smaller and quieter.

A beaut closeup with the kookaburra. Gorgeous flashes of that pale blue colour on his wings. It certainly looks like he was very interested in you too :D)
