...a bushland walk

An early morning amongst the gum trees, and the path ahead ...

and now behind...

wonderful contrasting colours and textures in the barks on trees.

Don't be deceived with the 'green grasses'.  It's not a lush pasture grass at all, but more than likely a native known as Blady-Grass Imperata cylindrica.  It's characteristically quite nasty to touch with sharp edges to the leaves, spreading via rhizomes underground.

Interesting facts noted on this Australian Seed site, include "the margins are finely toothed, and are embedded with sharp silica crystals".  Also, "it is used for thatching the roofs of traditional homes in Papua New Guinea".

Back to the trees which I enjoy so much, each one revealing it's very own character.

It's the wonderful Scribbly Gum again, shedding it's bark.  I've blogged about this tree before, telling that the larvae of the Scribbly Gum Moth tunnel under the bark, creating a captivating "bush graffiti".

You've got to love Nature's Bounty.

Wspaniały spacer po lesie. Piękne drzewa i ich kora oraz zieleń. Pozdrawiam.

A walk in the woods. Beautiful trees and their bark, and green. Yours.

And do kookaburra really hang out in gum trees or is that just in the song we sang as kids? I was thinking I had seen it before, but it was a long while ago. These sure are unique specimens! I've not seen the squiggles before--so I'm glad you shared those again!
