White-faced Grey Heron

Looking over the wall, I see two White-faced Grey Herons down there.  The Wyong River at this point has concrete baffles in place, slowing down the water-flow.  Now to walk down some steep stone steps to the right of this photo

the herons had been photographed while standing in the middle of a steel-mesh bridge suspended not too high above the water.  It was quite tranquil watching them and hearing the rush of water under my feet.  Have zoomed back for this shot as they reminded me of a pair of neat bookends

Nice shot of the heron, Carole. I know we have herons around here, but I've never seen one.

It is nice to see a heron of a different sort. We have just the Great Blue and the shy and obnoxious Green Heron

What a special beautiful blue heron Carole,
I've never seen this. In the magnification you see how beautiful it is.
Beautiful series of photos.

That looks a lovely place to spend an hour two, listening to the water and watching out for birds with camera in hand. Lovely shots Carole, especially the two birds close together.

Some beautiful Heron photos here Carole, especially of them standing side by side. I was a dinosaur nut as a kid and there is something a little prehistoric about these two. I could imagine a pair of Allosaurs hunting in a similar pose!

They are beautiful birds. Love the smoky color of their feathers. So glad you took the walk down to photograph them.
