Hi Carole,
What a beautiful photos are this.
The colors are really great, also the brush flowers I find beautiful.
This kind you do not see here.
I did not see again you had posted something new, really frustrating.
I watch it every day here on your blog, so I'll see if you've posted something new.
Greetings Irma

Well I was blessed to watch a program from Australia the other night. Oh my did I learn alot. The birds how naughty they can be in Farmers fields. Taking the corn, the seeds and so forth.
Being very destructive.

I did like the part of the male bird being so show off to his bird to mate.

He took three branches and he knocked at a place where he figured he would make a nest for her so she could hatch little ones later.

He knocked three times like in that song. "Knock three times"

Then she comes and looks in the hole as he had taken the bark off the branch and sort of shaved it into the nesting area a deep hole.

Then she gave the okay it was to her liking and she then flew over and sat with him on a branch and kiss, kiss.Lovey dove.

Now before hand he wanted to woe her as his

So he stood and spread his beautiful feathers to empress herand give his hero call but like I said he had to prove he was strong by taking the three branches and chipping them after banging it so hard against the tree.I mean she was looking for a stron man in her life. A super strong hero it said.

Apparently these birds are very clever. No slouches.

So I just was so interested in the history of these beautiful colorful birds. Your pictures are amazing.Made my morning.

Thanks for sharing.

Amazing photos! The Lorakeet is such a beautiful and colorful bird... and what a cool blossom of the bottle brush tree. I will try to remember the name, Callistemon! I saw bottle brush trees in the Los Angeles County Arboretum for the first time a year ago! It's nice to see your close up of the blossom! Thanks for sharing!
hugs, Laura

Beautiful shots Carole. Every single part of that birds is so colourful and I couldn't help noticing how the red eye is a perfect match for part of the flower.

To me, the texture of the purple feathers on their heads always look as if it's been painted!

Beautiful pictures of this colorful bird Carole, and how nice that he is in the "lights brusher" :-) Flying these birds in the wild with you or you have it photographed in a zoo?

as always, all comments here have been such a pleasure to read. I love getting out and taking the photos in the first place, not only for my own joy but knowing that others from all parts of the world are seeing something so new. Your comments tell me this. Helma: these birds were definately out in the open, public land space by a large lake at Warners Bay, not a zoo at all.
