16 March 2013

on a sunny Saturday ...

Along the foreshore of Wangi-Wangi (pron. wan-jee) today. I'd really hoped I may have found certain water-birds, Crake or Rail; I'd been told have been around recently.  Neither have I ever seen before, so it would've been a real buzz if I had.

It probably wasn't the best time of day, being early afternoon.   Still I enjoyed the walk, and change of scenery, and took a few pics to share with you; more views of Lake Macquarie.

In the shade of the Casuarinas (She-Oaks)

Maned (Wood) Ducks sound much like a cat meowing

Female Maned (Wood) Duck, swims alongside a boat

Much further along, and the boys were out in force; racing their sail-boats

while others took to the air

or hot-footed it over the water

fun days

What a fun post! It's so pretty there! I have never seen a Maned Duck before. The water activities look like great fun, although I like my feet on the ground.

Beautiful pictures Carole, so you can see the beautiful weather, delicious on a jet ski in the sea.
The ducks you have very well captured, my compliments.

Looks wonderful and peaceful until the occasional obnoxious jet-ski comes roaring by. Oops, the old man in me just slipped out.

Isn't it nice to be out walking with our camera .....capturing whatever comes across our path? Those sail-boats look gorgeous with the wind in their sails and ducks are always make for a pretty picture.

Its all happening there on the lake. I think that I would prefer a stroll along the side of the lake down that inviting path.

Sorry you didn't see the crakes and rails Carole. Never the easiest birds to see - very secretive. Never mind, you took some great action shots and the Maned Duck is very unusual.

That was a wonderful walk! the water look a bit choppy. the wood ducks you have are very different from ours. I hope you see the crakes and the rails....they are secretive.

Carole, I love the photo of the walkway and the 2nd one with the tree limbs hanging over! If you happen over to my blog you'll see that we started the first week of Spring with another blizzard! Also wanted to make sure you noticed that this is the last week for "i heart macro." Sad news since I met you there! Hope all's well with you...
