Round and about ..the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney

Australian native,  Queensland Bottle Tree (Brachychiton rupestris)

Tropical Centre "see, smell & touch heliconias, orchids and other exotic plants from misty mountains and lowland forests" reads the visitors guide.  Will include a walk inside on my next visit.

Lunch-time predators at the outdoors eating (Sacred Ibis).  Thank heavens the raucous singing bats nearby, chose to stay where they were.

Colour-treated water, surely; all part of the display?

What a strange looking tree. I like the knees of the Ibis. But what were they thinking with that yellow water? Autumn is cute.

Like everyone else I love the bottle tree. I really envy your botanic gardens even though we have a very fine one in Cambridge.

Thanks for your trip through the Botanic Gardens Carole, I've never been there before. The bottle tree is amazing, I guess they don't grow down south.

What a special tree the bottle tree. I'm fascinated by the trees in Australia. They are such different shapes than trees here in Holland. Great close-up shot from the sacred ibis. I like the last statue. Is there a story behind this boy?
