That lapwing is so beautiful! And interesting. Our white ibises look nothing like this (except for the white feather and bill shape). Your birds are so exotic looking. Wonderful photos!
The Little Pied Cormorant is sooo mush more attractive than the double-crested one I see here north of Toronto. I agree that the red boat makes a super prop.

A great series and the lighting is beautiful. Interesting to see the samphire - there's quite a lot up my way and the shorebirds definitely prefer to roost in areas where it is growing. However, I am not sure if it is the plants that attract them or the areas of low wetland.
Great bird images Carole and Yes! I've eaten Samphire in a salad .... it adds a lovely salty crunch.

Some great photos here, Carole! That Lapwing shot is crystal clear and the bird has posed marvelously! The Ibis reflection photo is lovely too - rare to see the common 'Garbage bird' from such a beautiful perspective.
Saltmarsh plants fascinate me for some reason, and I spend last Sunday studying them. I didn't snack on any Samphire but was intrigued by the Sea Blite and Yellow Mangroves.

It's always worth taking a closer look at what at first might look as an unproductive spot. You certainly found some goodies there Carole. The Masked Lapwing is a beauty and so is the Great Egret. We have samphire growing on our coastal marshes but its not as common as many years ago. Some people know it as the poor man's asparagus.
I have really enjoyed the photos, Carole. Especially the Ibis and Masked Lapwing!
