Crested Pigeon, Spotted Dove, and a sprinkling of local botanicals

...it was just before 9.30 am as I wandered about the resort perimeter at Alice Springs N.T., in search of birds. Well, there was nothing to find it seemed, that morning. Perhaps it was just a litle too cold, even though the sun was shining. It would take a while before the 1 degree celcius start, gained any momentum.

Almost ready to give up, when I caught sight of this Crested Pigeon landing well ahead, so a great opportunity to aim my camera ..

growing nearby, Eremophila

about to be, gum-blossoms

like these, a little tired...

that end up looking like these .. quaint gum-nuts

still here preening

and ..Wattle

...looking like, a Spotted Dove up there on the power line

soaking up the warmth of the morning sunshine

  1. Your patience paid off Carole. Nice captures. I planted an eremophilia yesterday, they are a very pretty shrub when in flower.

  26. Hi Carole. One degree? And here's me thinking Australia is always sunny and warm.

Anyway your perserverance paid off with some fine shots of those doves and the sunny plants.

Those gum nuts look really weird but I'm guessing something or someone will find them good to eat?

thanks for visiting Snap Happy Birding, and for leaving a comment; I can still see them. Now both my blogs are resting in idle mode. It was time to give other things priority, even though I miss my regular blogging and the feedback that came my way over the years. Take care.
