Here's a good little spot to pull up a while; can see a White Ibis out there .. what else?
One advantage of a grey day was the lovely light and reflectons on this little wetland area
Masked Lapwing
Great Egret
walking through the Samphire. It's a delicacy; have you tried it? When I first recognised it growing on another walk near to home in February 2012, I wrote this post
Little Pied Cormorant
Swans, Chestnut Teal, White-faced Heron
Sharing with Wild Bird Wednesday
wonderful pictures.

Hi Carole, a line from the movie "The Castle" comes to mind when viewing these photos - "enjoy the serenity" and it looks like you have. Really enjoyed the post. Regards, Richard
ReplyDeleteHi Carole,
ReplyDeleteI like the light in your first photo and I´ve never seen this bird in your third shot. Amazing !
Best regards, Synnöve
Great captures. Nice place to take pictures.. Cheers!!!..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and birds I will never see around here. Thanks for sharing. Take care Diane
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures with superb light, Carole.
ReplyDeleteThe third picture is my favorite, I've never seen them.
Well Carole, That was worth stopping for. Quite a selection of lovely birds and well photographed. The reflections are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds and photos, Carole. I love the Masked Lapwing and the cool White Ibis.. Thanks for sharing, have a happy day!
ReplyDeletethe pied cormorant and white-faced heron always catch my eye! the lapwing is very cool, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stop in the wetlands! Some attractive residents living there.
ReplyDeleteYour post on Samphire was quite interesting. I'm ready to try some along with fresh fish broiled over a campfire. Hey, that almost rhymes.
Hope you're having a great week, Carole!
Lot's of cool birds! Love the lapwing.
ReplyDeleteThat lapwing is so beautiful! And interesting. Our white ibises look nothing like this (except for the white feather and bill shape). Your birds are so exotic looking. Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteThe Little Pied Cormorant is sooo mush more attractive than the double-crested one I see here north of Toronto. I agree that the red boat makes a super prop.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful shots, Carole! I love the reflection of the Ibis! Great variety of birds!
ReplyDeleteWhat a peaceful scene...and soooo many lovely birds! TFS Carole!!!

A great series and the lighting is beautiful. Interesting to see the samphire - there's quite a lot up my way and the shorebirds definitely prefer to roost in areas where it is growing. However, I am not sure if it is the plants that attract them or the areas of low wetland.
ReplyDeleteGreat bird images Carole and Yes! I've eaten Samphire in a salad .... it adds a lovely salty crunch.
ReplyDeleteSuch a variety of wonderful birds. I can see why you photograph them.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful spot to stop. I love all the birds.
ReplyDeleteSome great photos here, Carole! That Lapwing shot is crystal clear and the bird has posed marvelously! The Ibis reflection photo is lovely too - rare to see the common 'Garbage bird' from such a beautiful perspective.
ReplyDeleteSaltmarsh plants fascinate me for some reason, and I spend last Sunday studying them. I didn't snack on any Samphire but was intrigued by the Sea Blite and Yellow Mangroves.
Beautiful pics and photos. The black feathers of the White Íbis, and Pied Cormorant are very attractive.
ReplyDeleteThose birds are classic, well done Carole.
ReplyDeleteSo many wonderful birds. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt's always worth taking a closer look at what at first might look as an unproductive spot. You certainly found some goodies there Carole. The Masked Lapwing is a beauty and so is the Great Egret. We have samphire growing on our coastal marshes but its not as common as many years ago. Some people know it as the poor man's asparagus.
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed the photos, Carole. Especially the Ibis and Masked Lapwing!
ReplyDeleteA kiss from Spain.
A very nice psot Carole.
ReplyDeleteThe landscapes are amazing to see, but the white ibis is brilliant!
Lovely "mask" that bird is wearing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a variety of interesting birds you see in this area. I like the masked lapwing.
