the people's park ...

looking like little packets of of popcorn

on the pine trees

in this pine forest section

at Centennial Park, in the heart of the city of Sydney, it's the peoples park

then to this stand of Melaleucas - it sounded like lots of birds in there

but it was lots of chattering bats instead

  1. Those bats are too incredible and are huge. Look like they would be pretty scary if they were flying toward you.

  2. This is such a great post. I was admiring those pine trees, especially the macro and then went down to find the bats. How neat is that? I would have been thrilled. The only time I have ever seen bats is when they used to fly around at night over our home many years ago. They have long since gone. I wish they would come back.

  3. Gee you have weird pine cones down there too. Is nothing right as to the rest of the world?

  6. We have lots of pine trees here, but I have never seen bats hanging from trees in this area (thank goodness. You have the most interesting birds and species in your area. I love seeing what you see!!

  7. Great post. Like the series on the pine trees, close up and then pull away. I don't like bats or flying foxes whichever is the correct term.

  8. The pine needles look similar to our here but the trees themselves look very different. I've never seen bats hanging on the trees. Here they hide out in buildings or caves.
You asked what I did with the snow and leaves. I just shoveled them off onto the lawn. The snow is almost gone now. If the leaves get dried out I will hire someone to come and go over them with a mower. They will get mulched and the guy will haul them out to the city compost pile.

  9. Even if you can't see the bat you can normally hear and smell them!

thanks for visiting Snap Happy Birding, and for leaving a comment; I can still see them. Now both my blogs are resting in idle mode. It was time to give other things priority, even though I miss my regular blogging and the feedback that came my way over the years. Take care.
