a few new feathered friends

 Varied Sitella

cropped version

first glimpse of something new; hadn't known what it belonged to

it's a Brown Cuckoo-Dove

hard to get a shot at it with a network of branches between it and the camera

the Brown Cuckoo-Dove had been to the left of this little 'swamp' and soon after taking this photo, something landed closeby

a Fan-Tailed Cuckoo was there for just a moment, one snapshot and away...

believed to be a female, or juvenile, Golden Whistler .....

  15. I've never seen any of these! The first one blends in with the tree nicely. I like the tree, too. The Cuckoo Dove is pretty awesome! It really does look like a hybrid!

  20. It's great to be able to record the moment you see a species for the first time! I love Varied Sitellas and I don't often see them in Brisbane. As their name would suggest, they look totally different down in your neck of the woods! The tree it is on almost looks like it is covered in snow - nicely captured!

thanks for visiting Snap Happy Birding, and for leaving a comment; I can still see them. Now both my blogs are resting in idle mode. It was time to give other things priority, even though I miss my regular blogging and the feedback that came my way over the years. Take care.
