full of nectar and prime food source for this Mistletoebird
it was like Christmas in July to see this!
I got lucky in hearing first the call from this male Satin Bowerbird, and finally he made an appearance!
from an earlier post it was suggested that it can take at least four years before the male shows a pale bill like this
how about those wonderful violet eyes

Beautiful birds! Love those violet eyes.
ReplyDeleteColor when least expected on the Bowerbird. I have not seen flowers on the mistletoe that grows on the cottonwoods we had in New Mexico. It has sticky seeds that are spread on the feet of birds. The Mistletoebird may be induced to spread the seeds when it takes the nectar.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bird with the red chest, black top and white bottom. I know this bird but I do not think he's wonderful Carole :-)
