Circular Quay, to Manly, N.S.W., Part One

Yesterday's day-trip I ventured down to the city, Central Station, by train (two hours), then onto the City Circle train from there, to Circular Quay station.
Looking back to Circular Quay railway station and beyond once aboard the ferry, destination Manly, twenty minutes or so away.

Museum of Contemporary Art, the original ochre-coloured building to the left, and alongside it is the new (contemporary) version, only recently opened

Sailors Home (1864), for visiting sailors through till 1980, according to Sydney on the Web, and  now housing Sailor's Thai Restaurant.  It overlooks the start of the Overseas Passenger Terminal for cruise ships.

Admiralty House  1845-1846 at the top, residence for our current Governor General, Ms Quentin Bryce.  The lower construction is the Marine Barracks.

Fort Denison, originally a convict settlement, later became a fort.  It is open to the public, with restaurant and picnic areas.

When I visited the harbour for Australia Day, the guns were firing at midday.

  13. Hi Carole, thank you so much for visiting my blog recently :-)

You have some wonderful cityscape photos here, all very atmospheric. Of course being a country girl at heart and lover of the natural world I most particularly enjoyed your more rural and wildlife posts especially seeing the birds which are so different from the ones we have here. The photos of the cockatoo were wonderful! It must be amazing to see those regularly. I loved the videos of the birds in your birdbath too.

thanks for visiting Snap Happy Birding, and for leaving a comment; I can still see them. Now both my blogs are resting in idle mode. It was time to give other things priority, even though I miss my regular blogging and the feedback that came my way over the years. Take care.
