Australian Native: Banksia

Last week I shared lemon-green flowering banksias from the Central Coast, but these rich russet toned candles are currently the highlight in bushland within walking distance of home.

According to Australian Botanic Gardens there are 76 Banksia species, and all but one occur naturally in Australia.  Named after Sir Joseph Banks (1743-1820) who, in 1770, was the first European to collect specimens of these plants.

    Hi Carole, thanks for commenting in my post i was able to see your site. You have very beautiful shots with your Sony, and i love banksias for the one and only time I was in NSW long ago. I also have a Sony Cybershot 12.1 MP, and an older model but i am not anymore using them most of the time after i got my Olympus E620. I am not as good as you in using my Sony. Or maybe because i don't edit them as I am not good in editing, i only know how to crop! I browsed at your older photos and they surely don't look like from a Point and Shoot. haha!
