they've been visiting lots lately during the overcast and showery days, feeding on these Salvias
I know to those of you who never see this bird, that they look a little bit quirky :)
...ooops, wishing I could've mastered this take-off. If I rev' up the shutter on my camera then I can't see through the viewfinder ... well it's not a dslr, but a bridge-camera. It stands to reason I guess that there are limitations. Even if I had those setting ranges in my favour I still have to fit all the bird in the viewfinder. I so admire those crisp, in-flight photographers who get it right!
A pretty good effort at the takeoff none the less Carole. Love the startled look on its face
ReplyDeleteHI Carole I always think these birds look so angry and that 4th shots he is saying "Don't mess with me,Lady". I love them all including that last action shot. Who needs perfection anyway! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletei love capturing birds, especially in flight. but i never seem to get them just right. i too envy and admire those who make it look so very good.
ReplyDeletegorgeous. i love the hanging shots. so beautiful. love that yellow eye. ( :
ReplyDeleteHi Carole. You're right, the Noisy Miner does look indignant... especially in that first photo!
ReplyDeleteLove the contrasts of colours in your pics and that last shot is great - caught in mid flight :D)
More great shots Carole, especially the acrobatic ones.{:))
ReplyDeleteHe's a very striking looking bird. I like that yellow behind his eyes. Nice captures, Carole!
ReplyDeletei always enjoy your shots. :) these show a lot of personality!
ReplyDeleteA cute looking bird, the eyes look so big!
ReplyDeleteWow ! Really great shots !
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend :)
This bird has such an expressive face. You've captured some great shots. I think my favorite is the 2nd one
ReplyDeleteLove that yellow at the corner of each eye. They make the bill seem all the longer.
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at their eyes. Awesome shots, Carole! Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteA very striking bird!...:)JP

ReplyDeleteCute bird in action.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comment on my blog.... and truly happy to connect with an "Aussie girl" since my son and grand-children are in Australia! :)
I like this miner very much a lot more than the Indian Mynah!
I agree, they do have an indignant look! LOL!
Wonderful lively pictures!
Dearest Carole;
ReplyDeleteWow; your photographs are SO amazing! I never knew about Noisy Miner and I thought this particular one is really lucky to be a photogenic bird with your camera:-)
I LOVE Australia and have (or had) some connection with NSW; happy to see the atmosphere (flower especially) of your country in your picture.
Wishing that you are having a bit of cool breeze now.
Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
I like the taking off shot! It shows action. My first time seeing a post with this bird. Odd sort of fella, but pretty colors.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! We don't see that bird in Virginia.
ReplyDeleteExcellent!!!! I especially like the photo of the Miner looking directly into the camera!!
ReplyDeletePs...Carole, if you'd like, add this post link of this bird and your wonderful images shared at the Bird D'Pot in my bird photo blog...it's up to you, but a lot of birders would really enjoy this post, I'm sure.

A beautiful bird. He's got yellow eye shadow. :)
ReplyDeleteWelch lustiger Besucher.
Waldameise
A great post!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and a funny bird.
ReplyDeleteThese are such cool looking birds! I always enjoy it when you post photos of the them. Great touches of yellow!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Carole, gorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteYour shots are always good . A little bit of motion blur is okay it gives the feel of movement where as a frozen shot doesn't . Try panning with the flight of the bird. The bird should be in focus but the backgound will be blurry.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the Noisy Miner because they chase away the other birds. They gang up in big flocks and attack.
He is such a cute bird! :) Fun to see !:)
ReplyDelete...thanks for sharing your link of this marvelous bird post Carole.
ReplyDeleteseems liek a relative to the Minya I psoted on my other bird blog. Great shots. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bird and your shots are brilliant.
ReplyDeleteMinors used to annoy me chasing off all the other birds but I've come to really admire them with age. Great photos - have been enjoying all the blogs.
ReplyDeleteJan
Such a funny bird. Great contrast in your photos. I like this.
ReplyDeleteBest regards, Synnöve
What a beautiful bird again Carole. Lovely view with that little dash bright yellow!
ReplyDeleteThat's a neat trick, hanging upside down to get at the nectar from those purple flowers.
ReplyDeleteI've found with my bridge camera, it's best not to zoom in on the action shots too much. Better to get a wide angle shot and then crop.
I have seen these birds near the Everglades -- I believe they are caged birds that someone let loose (horrible people. But the birds apparently are doing well as invasive species all seem to do in Florida. So although they are invasive, I really enjoyed photographing them and they really are kind of nutty looking, you are right.
