Carole, wonderful shots of your Coots! Our American Coots are starting to show up in our area for the winter. They are quite similar in appearance to yours.
Around here they say "If you haven't seen a coot today then you haven't been birding"; they're absolutely everywhere. They have some behaviours that make them far from cute coots, but for today lets just admire their beauty and your excellent pictures.
thanks for visiting Snap Happy Birding, and for leaving a comment; I can still see them. Now both my blogs are resting in idle mode. It was time to give other things priority, even though I miss my regular blogging and the feedback that came my way over the years. Take care.
Great photos. The Coot looks good but the water and the leaves are especially beautiful.

ReplyDeleteThis coot reminds me of a loon. Are they related. Are there loons in Australia?
ReplyDeleteJeanne you sent me searching my bird book - no Loons listed here and Wiki doesn't include Australia on their list either
