Wild growing and toxic to livestock. This introduced weed, Patersons Curse, is also known as Salvation Jane. Dept. of Primary Industries informs that this weed is native to Mediterranean Europe, and northern Africa.
Bucketfuls of flower bunches have been sold in markets labelled Macquarie Bluebells, amongst other quaint names - people are enterprising!

We have Pattersons Curse here too Carole. Looks awesome covering entire hillsides but a nightmare for the farmers affected by it. So easily spread too.
