finishing Dandry Gorge and next, Sandstone Caves (Pilliga)

Now that you've seen the Sculptures in the Scrub -Part One and Part Two, the walk down in the gorge now continues on along that huge stone wall.

I love the wonderful ochre colours in there

This is the walking path beside the wall; it seemed to go on forever.  To the left, is the dry creek bed.

back at the top now and to the comfort of a seat in the shade of a picnic shelter.  Hat off and enjoying cooling down.  Time for the thermos out and coffee break.  Funny that it hardly matters how hot it might be, that cup of tea of coffee is still welcomed.   Had been drinking bottled water along the track.  

Then, in the tall Cypress Pines to the left of here, I could hear a couple of parrots.  

I'm thinking it's a Mallee Ringneck up there

well documented information awaits before starting the track up some steps behind here, to the Sandstone Caves.

must be one of the many wattle species.  When you see so much green (and red on the ground), it is refreshing to see something different like this.  Eyes needed to be kept on the pathway constantly though, so's not to trip up (and fall down).

I photographed this signage hoping it would back up a photo I'd get to take of one of these birds.  It was too hot for them I think...

the bare tree at the top of the rocks looked like a giant bonsai

I had to get a closer look at it

So looking forward to sharing the Sandstone Caves; we're not there yet ... getting closer!  More tomorrow.
