Straw-necked Ibis

This afternoon, driving this road slowly, keeping an eye out for you know what, and good! there's something up in that middle dead tree.  Pulling over to the edge of the road, with camera out the window.  At the top, there's a short fork to the left, check the one under it.  See it?

The winds are blowing hard, and I'm pleased it's in a stable tree for a photo-shoot, with no foliages blowing in front of it.  Earlier bird photo attempts today were pretty futile for that reason.

Straw-necked Ibis

holding on, it can't have been easy

oops, a big wind gust

a little of the metallic colours showing on the shoulder

  7. You should start off-centering your first shot then begin a new game here..."Can you find the bird?" Then on the next days post you point out the bird. Of course we expect prizes to be given out for those who spots the bird first.

  9. Beautiful shots of this wonderful bird. I have never seen one of these! Does your camera zoom lens bring him in this close, or did you bring him in closer in a photo program?

  14. Strange to see this bird without its head in a waste bin - I thought that was its natural habitat!

I have just written about the perils of driving with a birdwatcher at the wheel of a car, so you comment about the camera on the dashboard made me laugh.

    Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne

  15. I always think this species is overlooked for beauty, colour and form. You've done well to show off all these features!

thanks for visiting Snap Happy Birding, and for leaving a comment; I can still see them. Now both my blogs are resting in idle mode. It was time to give other things priority, even though I miss my regular blogging and the feedback that came my way over the years. Take care.
