Osprey territory

zooming uphill ... there they are

now to wind around blackberry bushes, through a bit of marsh and grasses

some delightful 'small fry' along the way, on an old farmhouse gate from yesteryear;  perching site for this male Superb Fairy Wren

two on the gate and one on the fence post; now to getting closer to the big birds much further up the hill

foreground with Wild Tobacco Bush, origins South America

up on the ridge now but still quite a distance away; didn't want to cause any ill feelings.  The second of the pair had long ago flown to another tree to keep watch

  3. ...that wren is so colorful and sweet...but I must admit I'm in love with your osprey photos...from a distance and zooming in with your walk. Ospreys are a favorite of mine.

    What a treat.

  12. Splendid pictures - I really like ospreys.

I hurt my ankle on the 3rd day of a 8 day break into central Australia. I encased it in non-elastci tape, bought some Nurofen and got on with it! (What a legend!) - it was only when I got back to Melbourne that I found out that I had cracked a bone! So, another two weeks of the "big black boot" and I should be free!

Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW

  14. Nice captures. The osprey is very cool. Ospreies are very good fisher.I think many fish around the territory.
    Thanks for sharing.

  15. Well snuck up on Carole and with the fairy wrens captured as a reward for your persistence.

  16. Yes, I think I already know without asking anymore - hand held, no tripod. So you laughed at my thought that you could have been a brain surgeon. How about diffusing bombs? Amazing captures.

  17. That is a huge nest. The wrens add beautiful color to the scene. Such an interesting area!

  18. HI Carole Well that was worth all that effort to have got that last shot although it was interesting leading up to it.

  21. That´s quite a distance to get a shot. :)

  22. Had to laugh Sinbad (John) at your comment. I do have to work hard at keeping the zoom as steady as possible; not every shot is a reasonable one, believe me. Diffusing bombs, now that would have me shaking in my boots ...!

  23. I love Ospreys, Carole!! I recently visited Cabarita Beach on the Tweed Coast and was treated with a couple of Osprey & a Brahminny Kite flying around Norries Headland. I sat on the edge of the cliff and shot away. I also saw one in a low down nest at Hervey Bay about 5 weeks ago.
We are headed down to Port Macquarie for a weeks holiday from Sept 6-13. I have organised a photography walk on the Central Coast on Sunday Sept 8 from 12 noon to sunset. We are starting at Snapper Point car park in Munmorah State Conservation area. We are then moving to Norah Head, The Entrance and finishing at Long Jetty for sunset. I'd love for you to join us if you can.

thanks for visiting Snap Happy Birding, and for leaving a comment; I can still see them. Now both my blogs are resting in idle mode. It was time to give other things priority, even though I miss my regular blogging and the feedback that came my way over the years. Take care.
