Sulphur-crested Cockatoo

mesmerized by the warmth of the early morning sunshine

Various parrots check out this potential nesting spot where decayed limbs had been hard-pruned some years back by local council management staff on a cherry-picker

stepping back from the tree, there are at least seven cockatoos up there

All but the tree image were taken at 1200mm, hand-held.

  1. Great photos of the white cockies. They look beautiful up in the trees. It's just when they come down into my garden that there behavior is atrocious!

  11. Gordon: you wouldn't want to cuddle these ones, I think that beak is kind of vice-like. Naturefootstep: I would've been braced up against the arbour posts near the back fence to stabilize myself first. Definately have to have some strategies in place to make it work at that distance

Hard to imagine them in the wild, although my recent experience with a few hundred "wild" parakeets gives me an idea. :)

thanks for visiting Snap Happy Birding, and for leaving a comment; I can still see them. Now both my blogs are resting in idle mode. It was time to give other things priority, even though I miss my regular blogging and the feedback that came my way over the years. Take care.
