  1. Oh, those dratted galahs, at home I want to shoot then and on holidays I can't he;p but photograph them. Talk about split personality!
I too love the Flinders and could happily live there. The var. Fairy Wren is from a station on the flats just East of the N.Flinders ranges. I am so glad one can stay on the occasional station up there.

  6. Hi Carole I love the Galahs whether they are feeding on the ground or up a tree. Great shots. I have asked Pete why the Galahs were in the news, so I hope he answers. Margaret

  8. Those galahs are just so amazingly pink Carole. Seems strange to me here in the UK that you can have a bright pink bird!

  10. Odd for the likes of me to see these in the wild when usually they are in pet shops and behind wire mesh cages in zoos here in the States.

  11. I still find beautiful birds Carole and certainly they also fly in the wild with you!

  13. Great photos and I like the ones on the smooth barked trees - angophora and scribbly gums. Galahs certainly seem to prefer these trees.

  27. What an amazing colour Carole. Looks like a washed cranberry or some kind of strawberry pudding.

  28. they are an amazing colour aren't they?! Roy: you made me think "strawberry mousse" - for the first time ever. Diane b: I am now using a new camera and in experimental stages with it; will add details to my blog-sider soon. Pete Shanley: Margaret A. emailed me the link to the 'news item' - for anyone else reading here, the galahs alongwith cockatoos have been causing power-outages in a rural area of Qld - because of the drought they are there in big numbers, set onto the power lines to roost and when spooked or leaving, they send the lines smashing against one another. Everyone: goodness knows when and where it started but part of our Aussie Slang terms includes the word Galah in a derogatory fashion, suggesting someone is 'stupid' or 'silly'.

  29. Great shots - I too like the one that also showcases the scribbly gum. Thanks for sharing that news item too. I expect that we will soon have a Bird Fee added to our electricity bills here in Queensland.

Its great to see these beautiful birds living free in their native wild habitat, and not in a cage like so many captive birds do.

    Great shots Carole.

thanks for visiting Snap Happy Birding, and for leaving a comment; I can still see them. Now both my blogs are resting in idle mode. It was time to give other things priority, even though I miss my regular blogging and the feedback that came my way over the years. Take care.
