Same day, and same location last week, as for the Rainbow Lorikeets blog post before this.
and when I came back later, the Heron was gone but this Little Pied Cormorant was visiting
also a Darter
grey skies are going to clear up? I don't think so ... it's been like this for a week and more
the Silver Gull has landed
..closer to home, at Myuna Bay now. I wanted to see the swans but it was lightly showering
i love your white-face and your pied! always makes me smile to see you post them.
ReplyDeleteGreat photographs again from your side of the world Carole..!!
ReplyDeleteLove the herons -- and your cormorant is prettier than ours. I know all about those dashes to the car. Our goal is to be on both coasts when it's not the rainy season, but sometimes we get those kind of days anyway!)
ReplyDeleteWonderful variety of birds from your outing! The White-faced heron is pretty and I love the cute Pied Cormorant and Darter. Great post, Carole!
ReplyDeleteReally strong images Carole.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures...looks so inviting!
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at the quality of pictures you get so far away. To answer your question from the other day about a hiking video, to be honest I've gone on only one hike since returning home. Just been so busy doing other activities. Plus research and planning for my fall road trip takes up time in my day. Also it is really hot here and things are really dried up; not very photo worthy. Lets see, that's three excuses, I could come up with a few more I think.
ReplyDeleteAlways fun to see all the birds from your side of the world, Carole!
ReplyDeleteThe rain is a hindrance for photographers. Love the shot of the Silver Gull landing And the caption.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful set of photos! Love the Heron and the Cormorant. They're all lovely. Am back from 10 days in Alaska, so I'm playing catch-up.
ReplyDeleteHi Great shots and at quite a distance away. you must have a long lens. Margaret
ReplyDeleteHi Carole,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures from your country.
The pied cormorant I find totally amazing.
This species is not in Netherlands.
Regards, Irma
Das sind ganz herrliche Fotos und jedes einzelne etwas besonderes.
ReplyDeleteLG Mathilda
The swans look like the Loch Ness monster :).
ReplyDeleteI love the look of that darter bird. those gulls eyes freak me out though. Lovely photos Carole
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and yes - that Silver Gull caption is funny! I visited Lake Macquarie for the first time earlier this year and thought it was breathtakingly beautiful! Even on a grey and rainy day, you've managed to capture that beauty.
ReplyDeletesome gorgeous captures here, even in the gloom of the clouds beautiful images. and black swans....oh how lucky you are to have such beautiful birds within your lens.
ReplyDeleteAlso this blog is a wonderful blog. The outlines of the trees are very pretty but you birds and especially the bird in your first picture I find beautiful beautiful!
ReplyDeleteNot bright and colorful, all shades of white, black, and grey, but each of these birds is so distinct and interesting. Great captures!
ReplyDeleteSome lovely images of Lake Macquarie - a credit to you and well worth the visit thank you!
