Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo

Location: Bonnells Bay, Lake Macquarie, just before 7.30 a.m. this morning.

f3.7; ISO-100; 1/1000 sec. exposure, lens focal length 734 mm, hand-held.  Link to camera details stays permanently on right-hand side of blog now.

I think there were three of them, or were there four?  Aiming my camera at the cockatoo in best viewing range, top branches, the big old angophora tree

no way would I'd gotten these pics if I'd carried a tripod along with me; I had just a couple minutes if that, to pick up these shots.  Then they were gone.......I followed to their next location a little further down the bush corridor, but they decided they were out of there too.  Maybe this afternoon they'll be back?

  16. Carole, he is beautiful, and I've never seen a cockatoo with this coloring. Gorgeous browns. I have a pet Umbrella Cockatoo, named Riley. He is pure white, with a bit of yellow at the base of his crest. A real character he is!!

    Have a wonderful day!

  17. Cool looking birds! You did a great job on your "hand-held" shots. I rarely use a tripod. I'm always "shooting from the hip" so to speak.

thanks for visiting Snap Happy Birding, and for leaving a comment; I can still see them. Now both my blogs are resting in idle mode. It was time to give other things priority, even though I miss my regular blogging and the feedback that came my way over the years. Take care.
