amazing buttress on the Black Booyong
Wonga Vine
this beautiful stone wall leads next, into the Mountain Gardens.
Are you ready for this?
A surprise awaits ...
uh-oh, wasn't quite expecting this huge python!
When discussed later with staff, it had already been seen by others too and concensus is that it's so sluggish because it's having difficulty digesting whatever it's eaten. Judging it's size it's thought it may have taken a pademelon. Pademelon's are a small marsupial related to wallaby and kangaroo.
With the colder weather now, that's not good and could potentially be fatally detrimental.
It was pretty much at this point that I decided it wasn't so important afterall to continue on through the botanic garden....
LOL! oh, that snake is something! those roots and vines are, too!
ReplyDeleteCan totally see why you terminated your walk. That python is really huge and would scare me to death. Love the tree and the vine though. Those trees especially are amazing. We saw some in Hawaii when we were there, and thought they were incredible! Glad you saw that snake and got a shot of it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place. I would have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the python. Being slow and sluggish he'd pose no threat.
ReplyDeleteWonderful information about the trees and vines in your area - I like the way the vine twists around. I'm not a fan of being around such big snakes - I too would have been done with my walk.
ReplyDeletethis is amazing trees. And I´m glad the snake went the other way. :)
ReplyDeleteMy involuntary reaction upon seeing ANY snake is to suddenly be several metres away without any knowledge of how I got there!! So well done on actually getting the shot!!!
ReplyDeleteI spent a lot of time in these gardens, although the plantings were not well maintained, it was the butterflies I was after.
ReplyDeleteAren't those trees incredible??!!
ReplyDeleteYou got a bonus in the gardens... we didn't see any pythons when we were there! I must admit, I would have been quite intrigued and probable spent more time taking photos of it.
