Black ... or white swans?

It was early morning down by the bay today, and I was hoping for a great snapshot of the black swans.  Don't often get to see them especially close to the shore like this, so a real treat as they were feeding.

Since I've experienced a swan-chasing episode by being too adventurous and walking right close to the waters edge one time, I heeded caution and stayed respectably back, and also hoping to keep them where they were, rather than paddling out any further.

Somewhat over-exposed it seems, with too much glare bouncing up off the water?  Was using my little point and shoot on auto.

but somehow, I really didn't mind this edited transition, even though they're not black swans any longer.

  8. I like the top silhouette photo then you hit me with the negative at the bottom. That really worked. All my outdoor nature, mushroom, fungi, fern, etc. photos are from the State Park only a mile from my home.

  13. I like the white version! In 2012, Pilchard & I saw one of the few remaining wild populations of mute swans in Australia - but your version is more stark and dramatic!!

  15. All clever shots Carole. Sorry, I had to smile with visions of you being chased by hooligan swans.

  16. So many all in one place. A good capture even though you think the exposure is wrong. There is nothing wrong with silhouettes. The reverse is a fun shot too.

thanks for visiting Snap Happy Birding, and for leaving a comment; I can still see them. Now both my blogs are resting in idle mode. It was time to give other things priority, even though I miss my regular blogging and the feedback that came my way over the years. Take care.
