Pyrmont bridge for public access only
the almost defunct Mono-rail. According to Transport for N.S.W. the monorail will stop operating on 30th June this year, making way for the new Sydney Convention, Exhibition and Entertainment Precinct in Darling Harbour.
Best viewed in full screen. Pyrmont bridge opens to allow the passage of two sail-boats. The monorail passes over before the first comes into view from the left, and the other enters from the right hand side, before the bridge starts to close again.
Popular tourist venues, three in a row, Wild Life Sydney Zoo (not forgetting there is the long-time popular Taronga Park Zoo, other side of the harbour), Madame Tussauds and the Sealife Aquarium
All looking very familiar. Our children took shoes and socks off to enjoy the water sculpture of your first photo when we visited in 2010.

ReplyDeleteThis post makes me want to buy a big boat. My husband however won't get on them since he can't swim... so guess I'll have to get a boat and then buy someone to drive it for me.

The whole harbour looks ripe for people watching and some stealth photography of the more interesting individuals. Enjoyed the video. "Please stand back while the gates are opening."
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your part of the world through your photos. The floating netball court is interesting. So is the bridge that opens up for the sailboats. There is a lift bridge in Duluth that lets the sailboats and freighters into the harbor from Lake Superior.
