Potpourri of local birds

Each taken with the tele-converter lens, vantage point via upstairs window.

Galah in the early morning sunshine

Noisy Miner

Black-faced Cuckoo Shrike
Superb Fairy Wren (female or juvenile)

adult male Superb Fairy Wren but was hardly still long enough for me to catch the snap

Red Wattlebird after a morning bath

Wattlebird - can't be sure which.  It could be juvenile Red Wattlebird perhaps, or is it a Little Wattlebird... ah, I've been left a comment to confirm it is the Little Wattlebird (thanks to Pilchard via Red Nomad OZ)

  6. Great group of birds from your yard. I love that first pink one. It looks a bit like a rose breasted cockatoo.

  10. You are fortunate to have an upstairs window to shoot from Carole ..... I'm keeping track of a few nesting birds in my garden but the minute I open the door with my camera in hand they flit away into the shrubbery.

  11. thanks each of you for your comments, and to Dianne - the birds that are closest i.e. in the back garden/bath, they do know I'm there, and I have to be very slow with movements and sometimes I'll wear my sunhat and a long-sleeve birders shirt to try and tone it all down some. Just because the screen is absent it's amazing how cautious they are. Even when I look at the photos taken of the birds way up in the angophora tree, often-times they're glancing right down at me; their eyesight is amazing. Well we knew that didn't we, if they can see a little critter down on the ground they can sure spot me at the window!

Dont worry about dropping me a line if the "mystery linking problem" continues - I'll just send the link.

Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW.

  14. Hi Carole!
Love to see your birds in Australia! Our magpie differs a bit from yours.

About your problem with loading my blog, what can I say, even if I have many pictures at the same time I always make them as small as I can in kb. Just tested here with right-clicking and saw that your pictures are about double the size that mine are. Hope you understand what I trying to explain, because english is not my language you know! :)
Happy New Year to you! /Pia

Ich staune immer wieder, wie nah du an die Vögel herankommst, bei mir fliegen sie immer schnell fort, auch wenn ich mich verstecke.
    Frohes neues Jahr.

    LG Mathilda ♥

  16. Nope Carole! I wasn't in a hang-glider (btw, never would be). Just took that from my front stoop with my camera way above my head. Those mountains are about 4 miles away from my front door and I love them!!!!

They face west and I get the most unusual lighting on them in a sunset. I have a couple of other scenes / versions of them in earlier posts.

Thanks for the compliment any-who. (hug)

What a great assortment of birds. Some of them don't sit still long, hard to photograph.

  21. The Wattlebird reminds me of your Australia Wattle Bush in coloring.

thanks for visiting Snap Happy Birding, and for leaving a comment; I can still see them. Now both my blogs are resting in idle mode. It was time to give other things priority, even though I miss my regular blogging and the feedback that came my way over the years. Take care.
