Wattlebird - can't be sure which. It could be juvenile Red Wattlebird perhaps, or is it a Little Wattlebird... ah, I've been left a comment to confirm it is the Little Wattlebird (thanks to Pilchard via Red Nomad OZ)

all really cool birds. the magpie was neat to hear, although my dogs perked up at the odd 'mewing' sound. :)
ReplyDeletei like your red bird dish, too.
The wattlebird in the tree are lovely shots. The yellow belly catching the light!
ReplyDeleteGood first serie photo's in this year Carole ..... i like these birds.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Joop
I admire your patience to capture all those birds!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful collection of beautiful birds. My favorite are the Galah and the Shrike is cool. The Fairy Wren is one of the prettiest. Thanks for sharing your WBW. Wishing you a Happy New Year and all the best in 2013.
ReplyDeleteGreat group of birds from your yard. I love that first pink one. It looks a bit like a rose breasted cockatoo.
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful birds. Your new lens takes wonderful photos, Carole.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your video as well.
Happy New Year!
A very nice series of birds. Happy new year to you too!
ReplyDeleteWhat incredible shots!
ReplyDeleteYou are fortunate to have an upstairs window to shoot from Carole ..... I'm keeping track of a few nesting birds in my garden but the minute I open the door with my camera in hand they flit away into the shrubbery.
ReplyDeletethanks each of you for your comments, and to Dianne - the birds that are closest i.e. in the back garden/bath, they do know I'm there, and I have to be very slow with movements and sometimes I'll wear my sunhat and a long-sleeve birders shirt to try and tone it all down some. Just because the screen is absent it's amazing how cautious they are. Even when I look at the photos taken of the birds way up in the angophora tree, often-times they're glancing right down at me; their eyesight is amazing. Well we knew that didn't we, if they can see a little critter down on the ground they can sure spot me at the window!
ReplyDeleteGreat set of images.
ReplyDeleteDont worry about dropping me a line if the "mystery linking problem" continues - I'll just send the link.
Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW.

The teleconverter is doing well, you make beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteThe video of the bird and water bowl is beautiful.
A great day, Irma
Hi Carole!
ReplyDeleteLove to see your birds in Australia! Our magpie differs a bit from yours.
About your problem with loading my blog, what can I say, even if I have many pictures at the same time I always make them as small as I can in kb. Just tested here with right-clicking and saw that your pictures are about double the size that mine are. Hope you understand what I trying to explain, because english is not my language you know! :)
Happy New Year to you! /Pia
Ich staune immer wieder, wie nah du an die Vögel herankommst, bei mir fliegen sie immer schnell fort, auch wenn ich mich verstecke.
ReplyDeleteFrohes neues Jahr.
LG Mathilda ♥
Nope Carole! I wasn't in a hang-glider (btw, never would be). Just took that from my front stoop with my camera way above my head. Those mountains are about 4 miles away from my front door and I love them!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey face west and I get the most unusual lighting on them in a sunset. I have a couple of other scenes / versions of them in earlier posts.
Thanks for the compliment any-who. (hug)
oops! doh! Meant to say your bird captures are all very nice!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat series!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteNice set of images! Love the variety of birds that you get to see.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great assortment of birds. Some of them don't sit still long, hard to photograph.
ReplyDeleteThe Wattlebird reminds me of your Australia Wattle Bush in coloring.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics Carole!
Paper Hugs,
Jan

ReplyDeleteGreat nature shots!
ReplyDeleteThe Wattlebird is my favourite, cheers Carole.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful birds. Nice shots. I enjoyed the video.
ReplyDeleteThe Galah shot is beautiful with that early morning light! I still like the Miner, though! Very cool looking bird. These are wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteThe burst of colour that is a galah is astounding!!! And Pilchard the birdwatcher says your wattlebird is a Little Wattlebird! Happy New Year!!
ReplyDelete...thanks to Pilchard; I will make the notation "Little Wattlebird" now.
ReplyDeleteHow fortunate you are to stand at your window and see these incredible birds and then to be able to capture them in your new lens is wonderful. Thanks so much for sharing all of these beautiful birds!!
