I can easily imagine someone sitting under the shade of the trees at some time in the past, eating luscious fruit, and tossing the stones to the ground. Years later, "someone" is sharing their lovely flowers around the globe, via the wonders of the internet.
This post Eastern Spinebill, you made my day, at the beginning of September, includes photos of the location where the prunus was growing.

ReplyDeleteYes I think it a lovely surprise too, but I can imagine purists ripping it out.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are reallly pretty:) thanks for visiting:)
ReplyDeleteNow I am curious as to the "luscious fruit" of a plant I've not heard of nor seen. I assume you've tasted delicacy?
ReplyDeleteJohn, you will have certainly tasted prunus fruits at some time. what is prunus?
ReplyDeleteThe prunus flowers, whatever species they might be, whether domesticated or in the wild, are always awesome and never fail to catch attention. Because we don't have them here, makes me more attracted to it. I once saw a white flowering bush at the wilds of the mountain in Turkey, and i can't seem to leave without taking the photos! The color of this one is so beautiful too.

Brilliant Carole. That was one bit of assumed rubbish that was worth throwing away.
ReplyDeleteI have just caught up with the lovely photos and words in your recent posts. We are enjoying some beautiful autumnal weather at the moment and the garden is loving it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice surprise indeed! Beautiful flowers Carole.

Wonderful flowers - I spent some time trying to get some images of the crab-apple trees in our front garden - but just a little bit to much wind.
ReplyDeleteI think the whole house in my photograph would have looked good when it was first painted - but it does look rather sad these days. If it was not so far away (and probably expensive!) it would be a tempting project!

Fabulous! I really love that top close-up, but the 2nd one is nice too so we can see the image "in context!"
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful surprise to find that out on a hike. Wow.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous tree!! So full of blossoms!! I wish I was there, rather than here, with the last of the colourful leaves...
