but the male Superb Fairy Wren was out and about
and some of his harem, or juveniles, also

the ocean in the background, way below
Nankeen Kestrel was up on some antannae.
My biggest photography buzz yet (I'm hardly over it still), was with these "I got lucky" shots of this kestrel making for last week's W.B.W. post here
Willie Wagtail
now that's better, with a glimpse of sunshine.
Even some blue sky to be had as the day progressed. Nankeen Kestrel landed on a covered umbrella near the kiosk; it was time for a hot caffeine injection (for me).

that kestral is so beautiful. but those fairy wrens are just so cute!!
ReplyDeleteThe little wren is so cute. The ones here don't have the blue on them. What is the temperature on a cold and windy day in Australia?
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I love the cute Fairy wrens. Even their name sounds cute. The Wagtail is another one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing your WBW.
ReplyDeleteThey're all great, but Willie and the Fairy wren are beautiful and fun!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos - especially the Kestrel. I like your beach photo but it does look cold.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post, - perfect for WBW!
ReplyDeleteBarb questioned the temperature on the day; it was probably in those early photographs around 9 degrees only. The location is situated high over the ocean and very open.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures Carole .... the little fairy wrens are such treasures.
ReplyDeleteThe Fairy Wren is another newbie for me Carole and so lovely to see.
ReplyDeleteWonderful images of all your beautiful wildlife.
xx
wow, that is a gorgeous wren. Love the blue colors on the male. And the Kestrel is gorgeous too. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness... that little fairy wren is simply too cute for his own good. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou captured the cold and windy atmosphere in that beach shot.
ReplyDeleteThe Fairy Wren and Kestrel are beauties (and the Willie Wagtail!)
The Superb Fairy Wren is so...so... I cannot think of anything different than what's been said several times already...cute!
ReplyDeleteNever in my life have I heard of a Superb Fairy Wren, but name made me laugh! Very colorful little bird! I like the wagtail's plumage, too. Your kestrel is just awesome! Love those shots! A very handsome raptor!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures you show. Hanne Bente
ReplyDeleteSuperb Fairy Wren indeed! A perfect moniker for this adorable wren and great captures Carole!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors in sky, birds and water! It looks like it's gotten a bit chilly over there, and the birds are feeling it too!
ReplyDeleteVery good pictures again.....i like the first and last very much Carole, these are my favorite's.
ReplyDeletewish you a nice day,
Greetings, Joop

Well done Carole - I remember your kestrel shots from last week fondly as well! I'm pleased that he remains accessible to you!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots Carole!!
ReplyDeleteI would be delighted to capture the male Fairy Wren and the Nankeen Kestrel. I haven't come across either in my short 8 months of birding.
Beautiful images-- I especially like those exotic (to me) wrens!
ReplyDeleteSuperb images of the Kestrel but the Fairy Wren definitely has the aaaah factor. Lovely post Carole.
ReplyDeleteThe Kestrel is really stunning. Fabulous shots.
ReplyDeleteThat little Fairy Wren looks like someone spilled a bucket of paint on top of him...LOL! Great pics Carole!
ReplyDeleteTFS,
Jan
Beautiful shots. I like the blue color from the Superb Fairy Wren and of course the Nankeen Kestrel's beautiful feathers. Do I see a tangle pattern? ;-)
