Australian native, Queensland Bottle Tree (Brachychiton rupestris)
Tropical Centre "see, smell & touch heliconias, orchids and other exotic plants from misty mountains and lowland forests" reads the visitors guide. Will include a walk inside on my next visit.
Lunch-time predators at the outdoors eating (Sacred Ibis). Thank heavens the raucous singing bats nearby, chose to stay where they were.
Colour-treated water, surely; all part of the display?
the bottle tree is, of course, my favorite! the ibis is a bit close!
ReplyDeleteI tried to answer your question on my site. Great tree, and beautiful place.Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

ReplyDeleteWhat a special tree the bottle tree. I'm fascinated by the trees in Australia. They are such different shapes than trees here in Holland. Great close-up shot from the sacred ibis. I like the last statue. Is there a story behind this boy?
